Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and numerous podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive health care training with an importance on complications involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to deal with difficulties stretching from simple problems such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more sophisticated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which furnish them the practical experience vital to perform surgical treatment on those concerns that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of many issues which the feet routinely experience.
