Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists spend approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in reality various podiatry programmes lie within these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired extensive medical education with a focus on concerns concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to manage problems extending from familiar ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more intricate for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which supply them the practical experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those concerns that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of countless conditions which the feet routinely encounter.
