Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received comprehensive medical instruction with a main focus on concerns concerning the ankles and feet. They are educated to handle conditions varying from usual conditions such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which provide them the expertise necessary to perform surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and protect against a large number of conditions which the feet commonly experience.
