Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in an average of a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and several podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received extensive healthcare instruction with a main focus on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are skilled to deal with problems ranging from simple disorders such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical instruction which give them the skill needed to conduct surgery on those troubles that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and protect against countless complications which the feet routinely encounter.
