Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors put in about a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained significant medical training with a focus on concerns involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat problems ranging from usual conditions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which supply them the skill vital to perform surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against many troubles which the feet frequently encounter.
