Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest approximately a decade in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired encompassing healthcare training with an emphasis on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to treat problems extending from simple ailments for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those troubles that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet routinely encounter.
