Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and actually many podiatry programs lie inside these schools. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received extensive healthcare training with a concentration on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are trained to manage problems ranging from regular conditions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical education which supply them the prior experience needed to perform surgery on those troubles that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against numerous conditions which the feet regularly experience.
