Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend around 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained significant health care instruction with an emphasis on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. They are skilled to deal with conditions extending from familiar disorders for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more intricate including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which furnish them the experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and defend against many problems which the feet normally encounter.
