Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and quite a number podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired considerable medical training with a stress on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to treat concerns stretching from basic conditions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which furnish them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and avoid numerous problems which the feet usually encounter.
