Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received comprehensive health care instruction with an emphasis on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to manage problems stretching from basic problems for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which give them the expertise required to execute surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems facilitates a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid many conditions which the feet commonly encounter.
