Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in point of fact numerous podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained extensive health care training with an emphasis on complications concerning the ankles and feet. They are qualified to care for problems stretching from familiar ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical instruction which give them the experience vital to conduct surgery on those complications that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and minimize the risk of many conditions which the feet commonly experience.
