Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote approximately a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and several podiatry training programs lie within these institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received extensive health care instruction with an attention to on concerns concerning the feet and ankles. They are trained to treat complications stretching from simple ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more complex for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which furnish them the skill necessary to carry out surgery on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent a large number of conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
