Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. They invest about a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired significant healthcare training with an importance on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to deal with complications ranging from basic ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which supply them the experience necessary to carry out surgery on those problems that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent a large number of issues which the feet usually encounter.
