Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programmes lie within these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained comprehensive healthcare training with an emphasis on issues regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are qualified to address problems extending from general ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which provide them the experience required to perform surgery on those issues that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and protect against numerous issues which the feet commonly experience.
