Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received wide-ranging medical training with a focus on complications concerning the feet and ankles. They are studied to manage conditions ranging from familiar problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which provide them the expertise necessary to execute surgery on those issues that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against numerous troubles which the feet usually experience.
