Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact quite a number podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired comprehensive health care training with an attention to on problems concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to care for difficulties ranging from simple afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which provide them the expertise needed to execute surgical treatment on those troubles that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against countless problems which the feet usually encounter.
