Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received encompassing medical training with a focus on problems involving the feet and ankles. They are educated to address conditions varying from common conditions for instance, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the expertise needed to conduct surgery on those issues that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and defend against many troubles which the feet frequently experience.
