Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend around a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in point of fact numerous podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained thorough health care education with a focus on complications concerning the ankles and feet. They are trained to treat problems ranging from commonplace conditions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which furnish them the expertise required to conduct surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and defend against a large number of conditions which the feet commonly experience.
