Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and a number of podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have acquired extensive healthcare education with an importance on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to deal with complications extending from standard problems like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical education which furnish them the practical experience necessary to carry out surgery on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of issues which the feet generally encounter.
