Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes lie inside these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received thorough medical instruction with a main focus on complications concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address problems ranging from commonplace problems like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet generally experience.
