Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired extensive medical instruction with a concentration on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to handle conditions stretching from general disorders such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which furnish them the prior experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and defend against many issues which the feet regularly encounter.
