Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in about ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry training programs lie within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained thorough healthcare training with a stress on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to care for complications ranging from basic problems for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which give them the skill essential to conduct surgery on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and avoid many issues which the feet regularly experience.
