Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received extensive medical instruction with an attention to on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to manage issues ranging from regular ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and avoid numerous conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
