Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in approximately 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are contained within these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired extensive healthcare instruction with an importance on difficulties involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are qualified to address problems extending from familiar ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which furnish them the experience essential to perform surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of issues which the feet frequently encounter.
