Camrose Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually many podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained significant medical training with a main focus on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. They are studied to treat issues ranging from regular conditions for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which give them the skill necessary to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against a large number of troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
