Camrose Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Camrose concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and actually many podiatry programmes lie within these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received substantial medical training with an importance on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are taught to treat problems varying from simple disorders like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more obscure such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the skill essential to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against a large number of troubles which the feet typically encounter.
