Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Camrose focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in around ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired comprehensive medical education with a focus on problems involving the feet and ankles. They are trained to handle problems varying from familiar ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which provide them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those complications that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Foot doctor to create footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and help prevent a large number of troubles which the feet usually experience.
