Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received encompassing health care training with a focus on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to care for complications stretching from simple conditions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more perplexing for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent numerous troubles which the feet generally encounter.
