Our podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received significant health care education with a focus on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to manage difficulties ranging from familiar problems like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more obscure like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience needed to perform surgery on those concerns that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet regularly experience.
