Our doctors devote an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are located within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive medical education with an emphasis on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are trained to treat conditions ranging from common ailments for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience crucial to perform surgery on those complications that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against many problems which the feet regularly experience.
