Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in reality various podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.
At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received substantial medical education with an emphasis on difficulties pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to address problems ranging from familiar disorders for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical education which supply them the prior experience vital to conduct surgical treatment on those concerns that are best treated through surgical treatment.
Our Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and help prevent countless issues which the feet typically experience.
