Physicians at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest approximately a decade in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.
At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received encompassing healthcare training with a main focus on problems regarding the ankles and feet. They are educated to handle issues ranging from familiar disorders for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those concerns that are best remedied through surgical treatment.
Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid countless troubles which the feet routinely experience.
