They devote approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and numerous podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have obtained significant health care training with a focus on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat complications extending from conventional problems for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical education which supply them the skill essential to carry out surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems empowers a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against a large number of issues which the feet usually encounter.
