Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote around a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and a number of podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received wide-ranging health care instruction with an emphasis on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are qualified to treat conditions extending from commonplace afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which supply them the skill essential to conduct surgery on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of many problems which the feet typically encounter.
