Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote about 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality a number of podiatry training programs lie within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive healthcare instruction with a concentration on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. They are trained to address difficulties ranging from usual ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which give them the practical experience essential to carry out surgery on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous problems which the feet frequently encounter.
