Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend around a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs lie inside these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained wide-ranging health care education with a concentration on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to treat conditions varying from commonplace afflictions for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which supply them the practical experience essential to carry out surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of problems which the feet typically encounter.
