Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles typical medical school and in reality numerous podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable healthcare education with a stress on conditions involving the ankles and feet. They are skilled to handle concerns ranging from standard problems such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the practical experience required to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against a large number of troubles which the feet routinely experience.
