Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and numerous podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained significant medical instruction with a concentration on issues regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to address difficulties ranging from regular afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which supply them the experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet usually encounter.
