Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in approximately a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually many podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received comprehensive medical instruction with an attention to on problems regarding the ankles and feet. They are studied to address problems ranging from standard ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which provide them the experience crucial to execute surgical treatment on those issues that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against countless complications which the feet routinely encounter.
