Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are contained within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received comprehensive medical instruction with an importance on complications involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to manage issues ranging from conventional problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which supply them the experience vital to execute surgery on those issues that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against a large number of problems which the feet regularly experience.
