Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend approximately ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact several podiatry programs lie inside these institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive health care instruction with a stress on complications regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to address problems ranging from common disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical training which give them the prior experience crucial to execute surgery on those concerns that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and protect against many troubles which the feet frequently encounter.
