Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired comprehensive healthcare training with a main focus on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. They are trained to treat problems stretching from conventional problems for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more puzzling for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical education which give them the skill vital to carry out surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet regularly encounter.
