Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and quite a number podiatry training programs are contained inside these schools. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received wide-ranging medical education with an attention to on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are studied to treat problems stretching from regular ailments like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical instruction which give them the expertise required to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of countless complications which the feet routinely encounter.
