Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote around 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have obtained substantial medical training with a stress on concerns involving the feet and ankles. They are trained to address problems extending from basic disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more intricate including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which furnish them the experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems permits a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and help prevent a large number of issues which the feet routinely encounter.
