Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained significant medical education with an emphasis on concerns involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to address concerns ranging from usual ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical education which give them the skill necessary to perform surgery on those complications that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems empowers a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet commonly encounter.
