Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend about 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and actually many podiatry programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received wide-ranging medical training with an importance on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat issues extending from conventional ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which furnish them the skill necessary to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid many complications which the feet normally experience.
