Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and actually many podiatry programmes lie within these schools. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive medical training with a concentration on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to handle problems varying from commonplace ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more obscure such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which give them the prior experience crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatric doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and avoid a large number of troubles which the feet generally encounter.
