Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have obtained considerable medical training with a focus on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to care for problems ranging from conventional conditions like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical education which provide them the skill needed to conduct surgical treatment on those conditions that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against many problems which the feet typically encounter.
