Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend approximately ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programs lie inside these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired comprehensive healthcare training with an emphasis on issues regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to treat difficulties varying from normal problems such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which furnish them the practical experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and avoid many issues which the feet usually encounter.
