Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to standard medical school and a number of podiatry programmes lie within these institutions. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained wide-ranging medical training with a stress on conditions regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to handle issues ranging from basic disorders for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which supply them the prior experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against countless problems which the feet commonly experience.
